This is an elaborately decorated American coin silver tea set made by N. Harding & Co., Boston (c. 1850s). Evidently a presentation set, the pieces are inscribed with "Douglas A. M. Co. to ___________ 1854" (the original recipient's name has been buffed out). Wonderful figural finials, branch handles, winding vines on teapot's spout and handle -- many labor-intensive details.
Measurements: Teapot and sugar bowl height to finial tops is 8"; and 5-3/8" to brims. Creamer stands 7.5" tall to top of finial, 5-3/8" to brim.
Total weight: 63.25 ozt
Condition: A few shallow dings in the blank cartouches on the teapot and sugar bowl. The handles are secure, all pins intact.
