ANTIQUE COALPORT ENGLISH BONE CHINA c. 1891-1919

This is a joyful, pretty set of 12 apple green soup bowls, made by Coalport.  They are a nice large size at just under 10" across.  Most are imprinted on the back with Gilman Collamore & Co., New York, a high-end retailer (brother to Davis Collamore) in direct competition with the likes of Tiffany & Co. for providing fine English bone china to well-to-do New Yorkers at the turn of the 19th C.  These rimmed soup bowls feature a gold gadroon border, swirling gold decorations, and multicolored floral swags, all on a pure white ground.

The style of the Coalport backstamp used dates this set to between c. 1891-1919.

Condition:  Very good with no rim chips, cracks, repairs, discoloration, or visible crazing in the glaze (one bowl has some clear crazing on the underside). Another bowl has a base chip, which is pictured.  Three bowls have some wear to the border gilding (example pictured); this could be amended easily by a jeweler. Occasional light wear to the pattern, mainly mild stacking wear and a few random scratches.  Still a very pretty and presentable antique set!
